Chat window styles depending on chat type

The chat with Bille at top right is in Small mode, using the Kopete chatwindow style in the No Variant flavour.
The other chat with a testbed contact is in Chatroom mode, using the same style's compact flavour, so no avatars are shown.

Showing
*) visible IdentityStatusWidget where users can perform account-specific status changes - but the main contactlist window is not cluttered with all the account icons.

*) Identity icon (enlarged for testing by uncommitted work) which changes as the identity changes status.

Kopete Identity Management Usability Improvement #2

Modify Identity dialog showing editable label. The previous implementation did not allow the label to be changed after user initially chose it, because the label was also used internally as a unique identifier.

Kopete Identity Management Usability Improvement

Currently Kopete uses a similar mode to KMail to add new Identities, the groupings of accounts into related roles like 'Work' or 'Home' or 'Waldo the Magnificent'. This showed a dialog when creating a new identity from which the user had to enter a name for the new identity, select with radio buttons if the identity should be completely new or based on an existing identity, then choose the base identity from a list box.

calling all aspiring Instant messaging developers

I'd like to inform you all of my tutorial on instant messaging development for Kopete (the KDE instant messenger), at 10.00am (huh?) on aKademy 2007's tutorial day. In an act of breathtaking opportunism I noticed that the no-one else has promoted their talk yet, so with a massive First Post!, be cognizant that both chat protocol and utility plugin development for the KDE 4 Kopete API will be presented to you, with lots of detail on the tricks and tips needed to make a useful extension to KDE's number one IM application.
