New Color in Kontact Land

daniel molkentin's picture

After Till kept bugging me, I finally asked David Vignoni to submit his final versions of the icons, which I then committed to CVS. As a result, Kontact has now finally decent icons. Interested people should take a look. Have a look:

On related news: I was looking into zacks idea of delayed initialization (http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/view/509) using a [qt:QTimer]. I will try change Kontact to do delayed initialization. Let's see if that has positive pyscological effects on startup perception.

Update: I tried the hack, and it works, but it's still not impressive. Still I think this is the right direction. Additionally I wanted to get rid of Kontacts own Splashscreen Class, but someone dedicded it might be a good idea to hardcode the Splashscreen size, so I can't use this for Kontact Sad

The contacts icon

Did David forget to send you the addressbook task oriented icon, or you decided not to use it?
David's icon is IMHO much better, as it represent people, not a telephone. Most of us never call most people in the addressbook Smiling Besides, the orientation of David's icon is top left to bottom right, just like the other icons in the icon bar. The addressbook icon just don't match.

You can see the addressbook icon here.

It wasn't included in his package. Plus, your link does not work and I need all sizes. Hmmm.

Cheers,

For what it's worth, you can view the address book icon by first going to

then going to:

That's some sort of Geocities protection thing to stop people from directly linking to images. That doesn't solve the different sizes, but it at least gives you a look Smiling
