A helpful chap just popped into #opensuse-kde and asked about our c# bindings. It turns out that our packages exclude them in the most violent way possible. This made me curious as to why, as AFAIK they are a high quality binding that exposes the Joy Of KDE to an untapped pool of developer talent. The reason is lack of obvious demand and anyone to test them. So I'd like to know, if we enable building the (stable) Qyoto bindings for C#, would you use them?
(No, they won't be on the default install, nor will installing openSUSE's KDE pull in mono unless you choose to. Don't throw your peanuts at me.)

I would love C# bindings. I'm currently in school as an aspiring developer, and C# is the language we use here, and I recently switched to KDE from Gnome. It would be extremely helpful to me, as a KDE -and OpenSUSE user, to have the possibility to learn to code for Linux and KDE while I'm in training. Also, C# is a great language, and because it's getting more and more common for Gnome development I think it would be a good way to bridge the gap for people wanting to have multiple frontends for their Mono/C#-based apps.
Feel free to send me an email if you manage to get Qyoto packaged and maintained for OpenSUSE. I would love to learn it!
There is only one way to find out who will use them...
...and that is to make them easily available. Once they are easy to install, the first barrier to use will be much lower, then interested people can start dabbling.
As for the whole possible patents etc issues surrounding Mono, I'm a bit on the fence. But I have it on good authority from one of the main bindings developers that it is a non-issue or in their words: "bollocks" which I believe means that same thing.
oh. I almost forgot. The C# bindings aren't just C# bindings. They are CLI bindings, meaning any language running on Mono can use them. IronPython, IronRuby, Boo, whatever.
