For openSUSE 11.1 the KDE Updater Applet will switch from the zypp backend to its PackageKit backend by default. Authorization is done via PolicyKit-kde:
A KPackageKit package will be available in the online repository for those who don't like the YaST Qt Package Manager.

having read up, I think packagekit really is a useful project to make the linux experience more stream-lined to newcomers. It's great to see my favorite distro is already supporting it
Missing important feature
Why the question for password is Bold but the question who's password is needed is normal text?
Make the ROOT text as RED and BOLD (not with CAPS
)
So when the password is asked, user can see right away, does it ask a Root password (red) or User password (green).
Or is it somekind security thing to not use colors because user might learn to watch only the color and giving that password?

Which actions require a User password? Aren't all PW requests for root access?
PolicyKit supports both
PolicyKit also supports prompting for the user password. Allowing you to do actions with the root password, with your own password or with no password at all is a system policy decision.
