Current Status of weather plasmoid

spstarr's picture

Hello,

Just to let everyone know, I haven't stopped development. Here's a current look of the plasmoid with more changes coming

Weather Plasmoid

I've been busy with notmart aka Marco Martin and finally the results are starting to pay off nicely. I am still gunning for KDE 4.2 to have the '1.0' version of this plasmoid complete and ready for use.

The configuration dialog is going to be redone as this was designed for a different use case that didn't make sense now. If you'd like to help out email me or find me on IRC Smiling

decimals on degrees

It looks very good, I just have some comments.
Why do we have decimals on the temperature in the right top corner? This is probably never going to be usable information, so we should not show decimals.

The line stating where the data are from uses 460x45 pixels or 13% of the plasmoid space. Does the user really want this information? and if he does, should it not just be available as a configuration possibility?

I think the plamoid needs some minimization and HCI work, but overall it looks good and I'm glad to see a weather plasmoid in KDE Smiling

Thanks Smiling

Some data sources provide decimal values for accurate temperatures, we could drop the decimals and put the more accurate temperature in the details tab section.

- For the data, we can shrink the font but the text must remain for Legal Reasons (I don't want to be sued thanks Smiling
- We are working on squishing this more, but there's some layouting issues to deal with in Plasma still.

The minimization will come but the layouting has to let me squish things more. Ignoring the configure dialog which I explained is going to be blown up. I'm a one man show though right own in developing most of this with some help from notmart Smiling
