I don't know whether or not to trust them. I'm sure a lot of people won't trust them at all. I'll wait until I see code to back these words.

The fact that someone supports ODF does not mean the product is Open Source or even Shared Source. So you probably just meant "until I see the product" (?) 
That said, if we're at Shared Source, even then - they tend to use it for promoting of their (usually specific) APIs exposed by MS Office and Windows OS/.NET - it's not easy to find a standalone piece of code, preferably a library, that would be available for grabbing and reusing outside of MS Office and Windows area.
Let's see..
A good recipe for how to use such marketing tools would be:
1. grab some meaningful .org domains
2. s/customers/community/g
Such tools apparently failed to work mostly because ODF backers were active and organized.
hm.
Microsoft just needs to implement the ODF standard badly in MS Office.
Then all MS Office users will think - oops this weird .odf files all are a little bit broken - let's better use doc/docx - and the battle is won.
