KDE Everywhere

dipesh's picture

Isn't it funny if you browse around the web and keep on to run into all those Eee-PC clones out there and note that nearly all of them are running KDE@Linux. Yet other examples I did run into are the Acer Aspire One and the ultra-mini PC. Both are running Linpus (a for small displays optimized GNU/Linux-distribution based on Fedora 8 ) with the "Friendly KDE desktop environment" Smiling

KDE4 will go there even some steps future with it's by-design cross-platform, modular and innovative architecture while KDE3 keeps on to be the perfect super-stable super-long-time branch for next few years where only bugfixes are allowed to land. What a good starting point into the age of the world-wide digital freedom.

"Fedora Core 8"?

Uh:
* There is no Fedora Core 8, it's called Fedora 8. The last Core was Fedora Core 6. In Fedora 7, Core and Extras merged, so there is no Fedora Core anymore.
* Those mini laptops are actually running Linpus Linux, which is apparently based on Fedora, but which is not Fedora. So it's misleading to say they are running Fedora 8.

Ah, thanks for that

Ah, thanks for that correction, Kevin. Well, probably linuxmagazin.de didn't know this before (just like me didn't) then or it's just a stupid typo. The sentence translates to "Linpus, a for small displays optimized version of Fedora Core 8". Anyway, fixed now, thx Smiling

:-)

oh, I just did read your blog about KDE laptops in "Polish Walmart". Funny, do we have something like the international KDE@Linux-laptops-day today? Well, then we probably also need to name the ClassMatePC Smiling
