Strigi Applet

jriddell's picture

One of the goals of Kubuntu Gutsy is to have Strigi installed by default. Unfortunately the existing panel app was a line edit embedded in kicker, which took up loads of space. So I made it into a systray applet.

Giving us at last a second use for KAnimWidget, while it's searching.

Full text search!?

That looks great! Does Strigi have full text search now, as opposed to searching only for indexed words, where "hellogl" would not match "hello"? If so, how fast is that and how does it work? Or is it only the beginning of words? Just for filenames, or any data type?

More on topic: Perhaps the other occurrences of "hello" in the search results should be highlighted as well?

Good luck with Gutsy!

Two Qs

1. Will it be accessible using only the keyboard?
2. Will it search only in file names (like it is at the moment, and in your screenshot) or it'll be useful? Smiling

Cheers, and keep up the good work!
