sysinfo:/ Improved

beineri's picture

Other distributions certainly like to pick up stuff that Novell/SUSE are developing (and have been using for long). Recent examples include Ubuntu and Mandriva starting to integrate AppArmor or Oracle porting YaST to their Enterprise Linux and RHEL. On a smaller scale, the sysinfo:/ KIO slave has been improved and packaged for several distributions.

Dirk had a look at it and integrated the most interesting changes into the sysinfo:/ of openSUSE 10.3 including swap space, CPU cores, CPU temperature display and those nice bars showing free disk space (even colored depending on the state):

Additionally sysinfo:/ has been split from the kdebase3-SUSE package into an own package so that you can exchange/upgrade it with some other version easily.

Port for Dolphin?

As far as I can see "sysinfo" can be used only in konquerror. But the default file manager for KDE 4.0 will be Dolphin. Dolphin uses KDE ioslaves but it can't use "sysinfo" even if it is installed.
Do you have any plans to make something similar to "sysinfo" to be used in Dolphin?

Thanks

Why not fix Dolphin that it can use sysinfo:/?

openSUSE Color Scheme

Hello!

I really like the sysinfo page and i hope that it'll stay so simple and beautiful ^^.

Yesterday i've updated my openSUSE 10.3 Beta1 with the openSUSE Factory repo and now my whole kde desktop is blue again.. why? the green was sooo beautiful. Which colorscheme will the release be?

friendly greetings

Bernhard

Because our main artist thinks that "green doesn't cut it for a wallpaper" (source).

He changed his mind again, it's green now.
