Kubuntu HWDB

jriddell's picture

I've made a Qt 4 client to Ubuntu's Hardware Database which lets you anonymously submit details of your machine. You can then attach your given ID to any bug reports and the data is also collected into interesting statistics for the Ubuntu distributions to find out about our user's hardware.

Grab the packages and leave me feedback on the feedback wiki page, they need Edgy since it needs the new python-qt4.

More KDE-fitted artwork coming once kwwi gets back from America.

As far as I know this is the first Free Software application to make use of PyQt4, Qt 4 certainly does make it easy to do some funky graphic effects.

I don't want to disappoint you, but some of us have also been busy. Eye-wink

There are a few PyQt4 applications in various stages of development, but here are a couple of actual releases to get you started:

Consistency?

Can I suggest that the title of the window be changed to "Ubuntu Hardware Database" rather then "Kubuntu HD", so that it's consistent with the logo beneath it?

Consistency?

The artwork will all be changed as I say, but I'm unsure about whether to call it the Ubuntu HWDB (which is consistent with hwdb.ubunu.com) or to rebrand it as Kubuntu HWDB.

Cool. Also for Ubuntu? (Gnome)

Well, it's a very cool Software, but is this also availible for GTK/Gnome in Edgy?

Yes, it's always been in Ubuntu.
