The web interface in CUPS 1.2 is greatly extended -- it even allows you to directly edit the cupsd.conf file via a web form (and restore a sane default with a single click should you have messed up your own editing).
Unfortunately, (K)Ubuntu Dapper has the web interface admin functions disabled by default.
You can still see them, however. If you let yourself be tempted to click and try them, be aware: you seem to be able to do everything, but when you want to save your changes, it will keep asking you for passwords that are not set and do not work.
