New admin functions in CUPS 1.2 web interface

pipitas's picture

The web interface in CUPS 1.2 is greatly extended to make administration more easy even for CUPS newbies. You can directly enable or disable these popular settings with a single click:

[x]  Show printers shared by other systems
[ ]  Share published printers connected to this system
  [ ]  Allow remote administration
[ ]  Allow users to cancel any job (not just their own)
[ ]  Save debugging information for troubleshooting

You can also look at the error_log, page_log and access_log files, or open cupsd.conf for fully tweaking it by detailled editing.

Unfortunately, (K)Ubuntu Dapper has the web interface completely crippled in its default installation, by removing all admin functions. Well, the disabling is not complete: you can still see them, so they may tempt you to click and try them; but when you want to save, it will keep asking you for passwords that are not set and do not work.
