The patched Ubuntu web interface warns users about removed functionality, albeit not in a very prominent way. Users can still click on various links and buttons (and are likely to do so without even noticing the warning); each link will take them to a new page, where there is no warning any more: there, they are lead to believe that they can add printers or classes, modify printer settings, change the cupsd.conf setup file and much more. When trying to do so, they are asked for a password: but whatever they enter (root password, user password) -- nothing will work! They'll likely spend hours and hours to track down "their" problem....
It would be much better to not cripple the web interface at all. But if you feel like you need to, Ubuntu packagers, then please do also remove all those seductive links and buttons, markup your warning in red and make it more unambiguous! Like this, for example!
