... because you pressed this button?

The Defaults button in KDE's Configure... dialogs resets all application settings to the factory defaults. In a tabbed dialog design, this does not become clear at all: The label does not tell if it refers to the current tab or to the whole dialog. For the user, this is especially difficult to learn as KControl behaves differently: Here, the Defaults button refers to the currently active tab only.
I actually never used it
I actually never used it before our conversation last week because I had no idea what it was going to do. Funny you mention this because I was working on a fresh configuration the other day and used this button because now I know what it does!
Are there any plans to mock up and test the ideas we talked about last week?

... I found that it has more implications than just the two buttons. Especially Font and Colour settings require some new guidelines (currently, there are none - fonts behave differently in each application). I'm working on it with Olaf and Gunnar as it is an important issue in the Accessibility guidelines.
Yes
Yes. I sucks big time. Any plans for a fix in the 3.5 branch or will users have to lose application settings until 4.0 becomes reality?
Yes2
[Sorry for my english]
Yes, me too. I think KDE developers could solve this problem by:
* Adding button "Restore previous configuration" by default, and "reset to defaults" as secondary option.
* Remove "overall" reseting of configuration, and make this only for one page or tab.
