Summer is gone. No more pictures or travelling, lack of time for much opensource... that's life.

I will also be moving soon, and that will make my spare time even shorter. Lets hope there will still be some spare time during the weekends!

In the mean time, I'm seeing that many photographer applications and code are being added hideously to svn. I really wish those projects got more attention and advertising (and thus help), since, given the skills required for coding them, they require quite a few resources. I hope to be able to help those myself with some code, now and then.

This is the 3rd tutorial in this series, trying to show how effective KDE photography applications can be for fixing and/or improving your photographs overall. In the first and second tutorials we addressed light exposure issues. Ie, we addressed photos that had regions gone too dark or too bright, and we showed how to fix them using either the levels tool or the curves tool.

In this third part we will continue addressing the light issues, but we will target color issues rather than brightness issues.

This is the second part of tutorials aimed at showing how to use KDE's photography tools (namely ShowFoto and/or Krita), to process, edit and fix your photographs. The first part of the tutorials showed how to interpret a histogram, and how to use the levels tool. This tutorial will show you how to use a more advanced tool, called the Curves Adjust tool. It's much more powerful than the levels tool but requires more patience and practise to get good results.

This is possibly one of the most widely used and most simple method to adjust an image. It's so simple and effective that you will want to use it on all your pictures from now on, so keep an eye on this, and have fun.

Photography has changed a lot since digital cameras broke into our lives and replaced film cameras. Camera makers have made great efforts to convince us that digital is better, and that new digital cameras are worth their money.

Such a boring title. And so obvious. But it's August: everyone around packs, get their kids in the cars and rush for miles until they reach to the hot summer beaches.... puagh! not my style. You won't see uga roasting his back under the sun just to look like the Guinness Record of Large Red Tomatoes. Life got other interests to keep my time busy. Different cultured and tourist-free destinations where you can taste the flavor of magestic culinaires not adapted to local aberrations, or you can just walk through, admiring their architecture and nature.

KDE has always been a community that I saw myself very happy with. Open, friendly and cheerful to newcomers. To improve that, and not to diminish the quality of coding while doing so, #kde-devel is better used for coding only, and suggests #kde-cafe for a socialisation channel. I promoted the use of that channel in the past.

Yeah, I fell into the trap too. It's a toy, just a toy. But I can't ignore eyecandy =)

There's some annoying 'g' dependancy on it for now, but I couldn't resist. Most of you will also have experimented with it, and possibly found that your dear minicli is no more accessible through Alt+F2 shortcut. Of course, this is unacceptable for me, given I use it at least 99 times a day. And possibly annoying for you too, right?

In case you haven't noticed, there's a nice cute little menu in amaroK's playlist which mentions the horrible word "delete". Yes sir, delete, as in "remove completely from your harddisk". The option is side by side with "remove from playlist" option, so loosing your files by mistake is so easy. (nobody reads warnings nowadays, and everyone knows that).
